American University Acceptance Rate Early Decisions

American University has chosen to reward students handsomely for devoting to them via binding Early Decision. If you are a frontier applicant (statistically), this is a great way. 

This statement is evidenced by an 83% ED acceptance rate for the Class of 2024. In total, 962 applicants applied through Early Decision, and 803 were accepted.

There are two rounds of Early Decisions at American University. 

  • The Early Decision 1 deadline is November 15.
  • The Early Decision 2 deadline is January 15.

American University Requirements

The middle 50 percent GPA of admitted students for the Class of 2022 was 3.47- 4.00, and the median 50 percent SAT score was 1240-1390. Also, 42 percent of accepted students are from the Mid-Atlantic region, 12.5 percent are from the West Coast region, and 4.8 percent are international.  

An additional 7 percent of AU’s recent eagles are first-era students, and 64.8 percent are female. 7.4 percent of the class identifies as African American, 7.2 percent as Asian, and 12 percent as Hispanic

Students who want to enroll in the Class of 2024 (most recent data available) had an average high school GPA of 3.79. Thirty-five percent were positioned in the top decile of their high school class, 68% were in the top 25%, and 95% were in the top 50%. The median SAT score for enrolled students was 1310, and the median ACT composite score was 30.
